Hydro Power Station Control System Upgrade
Control systems engineering support, in an owner’s engineer capacity, for the complete upgrade of a North Queensland hydro power station. The legacy Siemens PCS7 control system was removed and replaced with an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platform. We sat on the asset owner’s side of the table for the duration of the project.
What We Did
- Developed the project requirements, including compliance with AEMO and the National Electricity Rules
- Oversight of quality assurance and defect rectification works
- Subject-matter expertise to the project and contractor teams
- Commissioning assistance for remote dispatch and AEMO dispatch compliance
- Technical liaison with the transmission network service provider
- Line-by-line code quality review of the power station controller, identifying critical defects and giving the prime contractor rectification guidance
